Or at least hand them a check for $1,000. We'd like to congratulate our three winners: performance artists TM Sisters, experimental dance company Bistoury Theatre, and artist Randy Burman. See also: Rise of the MasterMinds: Meet the Ten Astounding 2015 Finalists All of our ten nominees displayed their work inside the museum, from paintings to film, dance, music, and video installation. See also: MasterMind 2015 Finalist: TM Sisters The TM Sisters are a fixture on Miami's art scene. Their dazzling and at times overwhelming installations are virtually synonymous with a Miami aesthetic. The TMs have been MasterMind finalists before, and we were happy to finally give them one of this year's giant checks. See also: MasterMind 2015 Finalist: Bistoury Theatre Bistoury Theatre, an experimental dance company co-founded by Alexey Taran and Carla Forte, is likely one of the more recent additions to the Miami art scene. The company made its way to South Florida in 2007, after receiving a Guggenheim Fellowship. New Times is thrilled to contribute to the development of Bistoury's singular and challenging vision. See also: MasterMind 2015 Finalist: Randy Burman Randy Burman is a bit of dabbler. He's worked in dozens of mediums, but it was his guerrilla installation of poetry-as-street-signs done in conjunction with O, Miami that really garnered everyone's attention. Last night Burman showed the mock-ups for poems that didn't quite make the cut. And like the poems installed, they were smart and funny. Congratulations, again to all of our winners and to our ten finalists. |
