Deadline: Rolling Founded by the Cuban interdisciplinary artist Alexey Taran and Venezuelan Filmmaker Carla Forte RE-MOLINO DE ARTE is a platform for exchange between art, ecology, culture and society. Carla and Alexey aim to reconnect people with nature, as well as generate and share knowledge that promotes resilience and sustainability for individuals, communities and the environment. Costa Rica's climate is defined as tropical with coastal plains, and mountain ranges in the middle of the country with many being volcanic. Roughly 51% of the land is filled with rainforest. While Costa Rica is only roughly. 03% of the land mass on the Earth, it contains 5% of the world's biodiversity. Costa Rica's environmental credentials are impressive: more than 98% of its energy is renewable, forest cover now stands at more than 53% after painstaking work to reverse decades of deforestation and around a quarter of the country's land has been turned into protected parks and reserves. Residency Location: Labrador in San Mateo (Provincia de Alajuela) is a city in Costa Rica about 36 mi (or 58 km) west of San Jose, the country's capital. |

Resident Artists will have access to the following support and opportunities: RE-MOLINO DE ARTE 2 weeks residencies (maximum of 2 artists) . Artists pay a residency fee of $1,100 ($25 per night per extra person for couples) The residency fee includes: Outside studio 5X8 Private room and bathroom, plus the use of shared facilities, including a full kitchen, high speed WiFi, and communal gathering and working areas Work-in-progress showings Application Process: There is no application fee. We accept applications on a rolling basis. A letter of invitation is available on acceptance should you need one to apply for outside funding. Eligibility: Artists must be 21+ years of age, showing a professional working history of making art. Categories: applications are accepted from all disciplines including but not limited to, Writing, Painting, Photography Visual/Plastic Arts, Film, Research (Sustainability/Ecology/Biodiversity/Climate Change), Dance, Theatre, Sound & Music, Design, Architecture. The artist is responsible for all personal and meal expenses while in residence. |
