Miami, FL - 305 HAV INTERNATIONAL IMPROV FEST '19 is a festival that promotes the art of improvisation in performance and film. Taking place during two consecutive weeks in Miami and Havana, the 305 & Havana International Improv Fest presents master classes by international artists, curated screenings and performances that deepen into the art of improvisation, bringing together performing artists, filmmakers and audiences across two cities. Partnering venues includes the Miami-Dade County Auditorium On.Stage Black Box Theatre (Miami, Florida) and Workshops at the MTC Miami Theater Center Sandbox (Miami, Florida), Koubek Center MDC (Miami, Florida) and Fábrica de Arte Cubano (Havana, Cuba).
In the life of a stage or creative space, improvisation is considered an instrument for exploration and a tool for expanding creative possibilities. Open-ended investigation into the art of improvisation in different artistic expressions has become a tool that has no limits in the search for an authentic language through movement or ideas.
Every year, the festival commissions a Miami-based artist to present work across the two cites. This year, dance and performance artist Lize-Lotte Pitlo has been commissioned with her piece TRACES. This commission is made possible by the support of Vivian Marthell, Co-director of O Cinema.
Participants in the film program include celebrated Miami artists: Alexandra Vivas, Randy Valdes, Lucia Aratanha, Cristian Proa, Maria Teresa Barbist and Ika Santamaria as well: Ines Rojas (Venezuela), Abe Abraham (New York), Lucy Kerr (CA), Armando Diaz (Venezuela) and Marcia Beatriz Granero (Brazil).

305 HAV INTERNATIONAL IMPROV FEST '19 Workshop HAVANA, CUBA
WORKSHOP/ by Osmani Tellez The creative muscle. For a Performer Improvisation can have some pre-existing ideas, very specific intentions or nothing at all but it will always allow you to include your own voice and to be part of the creative process. It will give you some freedom or a lot of freedom but also the same amount in responsibility in the outcome of the performance. In this workshop we will explore with the performer some of the fundamentals of improvisation and how to better take advantage of the endless possibilities that it has to offer. We will also come up with some tools to help us navigate this process of exploration and self expression and exercises to strengthen our own creative muscles.
The workshop will be broken down into four main parts:
How to prepare the body and mind the right way
Looking for extructures outside and inside and how to respond to them.
less is more: how to allow space for things to happen.
The shapes of your mind: how we think about right or wrong defines how we create shapes. The unknown can be intimidating but also very rewarding if approached in the right way. Improvisation gives us an opportunity to reconnect with our own creative nature.
